New Senior Housing/Alzheimer Community Concept Coming to Warsaw

(April 20,2010) Willow's Bend, a new development along SR 15 in Warsaw, will be home to Hope Rising, an innovative senior living community with an exciting new concept for individuals with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia and their families.  Located just two miles north of Wal-Mart, these 27 acres of rolling hills and natural wetlands will house several memory care assisted living homes as well as independent living homes, both townhomes and multifamily units.  Three commercial/office parcels on the eastern side of the property along SR 15 are also available for purchase or lease.  Long-time Warsaw business community member Deanna Hicks is heading up the effort behind the development.

Willow's Bend is comprised of all three areas: the memory care/assisted living units, the independent living units, and the commercial properties.  Hope Rising refers to the non-profit, memory support assisted living community and is based on the idea that families and spouses who are caregivers for a loved one with Alzheimer's or some other type of dementia are looking for a way to get the help they need without having to separate from their loved one.

The mission of Hope Rising is to provide a community where individuals with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia can live, work and play.  It revolves around supporting couples and assisting families to stay together.  It will vastly improve the lives of those affected by these diseases by bettering their quality of life, enhancing their dignity, and creating a nurturing family environment.

The assisted living concept will be like no other in our community as each home will have the capability to house just twelve individuals.  Instead of institutionalizing a person with Alzheimer's or dementia in a nursing home, Hope Rising will allow residents the freedom to go about their normal daily activities in a home-like environment while providing safety and security.

With both assisted and independent living areas in the same community, Willow's Bend will allow families to stay together as staff provides much needed programs and services to the individual with dementia as well as rest for the primary caregiver.  The community will provide walking paths throughout the property, community gardens, wetlands and a barn for equine therapy, allowing patients and families to spend their days in shared activites and spaces.

Hicks is actively seeking investment partners and developers for Willow's Bend as well as complementary partners for the three commercial lots such as medical providers and/or other entities linked to senior care.
