Plumrose USA Completes Renovation
(December 7, 2009) DJ Construction and Plumrose USA recently announced the completion of an interior renovation project at Plumrose's 24402 CR 45 location involving 4,300 square feet.
The project included changes and upgrades to the raw goods freezer space, finish packaging area, and materials distribution hallway. According to DJ Special Projects Superintendent Lon Roth, the construction crew removed sections of 12 inch thick solid concrete roof slab in one area, concrete roof planks in another area, and substantial steel structures throughout the project. Other demolition included removal of built-up roof systems, wood framing and masonry walls. Most of the demolition was done by hand due to restrictions of the work environment. All areas affected by the renovation are refrigerated and required installation of new cooler panel construction and washable floor tile throughout.
DJ and Plumrose also teamed up for another renovation project several years ago that included the construction of a new 17,000-square-foot roof structure built over a portion of the original facility.
Plumrose USA is one of the nation's top suppliers of premium quality meat products to both the retail and food service trades with an emphasis on quality and reliability. The Elkhart division specializes in bacon processing. On a typical production day, this plant receives 200,000 pounds of raw material and further processes it into just under 300 different bacon items for food service and retail customers throughout the U.S. and Mexico.
