DJ Construction Celebrates 55 Years!
(September 15, 2009) DJ Construction is celebrating our 55th anniversary this September! We have been a core member of the Elkhart County business community since Don Schrock and his brother, Joe, founded the company in 1954. The company began in the residential market, but, in the early 1970s, became a major builder of commercial and industrial projects. As the percentage of work in this market continued to escalate, the company left the residential construction market and became a leader in the local commercial and industrial markets.
DJ has partnered with many clients including Greencroft, Das Dutchman Essenhaus, Jayco, the Shipshewana Auction and Flea Market, and INterra Credit Union to complete many of the area's most visible construction projects. Literally hundreds of clients throughout Michiana, with projects both large and small, have all been vital to the success and growth of DJ Construction.
Don's son, Bob, joined the company in 1981 and currently serves as the CEO. Doug Wogoman, currently the President, joined the company in 1995. Joe's son, J.C., has been at the company since 1986 and is the Vice-President of Business Development. Lydell Troyer came on board in 1990 and serves as Vice President of Operations.
The company constructed a new office complex located along US 33 and CR 17 and moved from its former location on Wilden Avenue to the new building on December 16, 2004.
The company has changed over the years, but our foundational commitment to safety, quality, committed schedules, and the earning of a fair profit, as outlined in our mission statement, remains the same.
