Bremen First United Church of Christ Completes Addition

(October 12, 2009) The narthex addition at Bremen First United Church of Christ is now complete!  DJ Construction was the DesignBuilder for the project.

The new space will be used for gatherings and other church functions.  It contains 2,730 square feet and has two new entrance canopies.  The project also involved the installation of a wheelchair platform lift in the original building to provide access to the basement.

According to DJ Project Manager Howie Mathews, one of the project's more unique elements was the incorporation of the original exterior stained glass windows into the design of the new addition.  A dedication service for the addition was held Sunday, September 13th.

Tom Stiles, First United Church of Christ Project Coordinator, says the congregation is impressed with the final product, which will allow them to provide ministry in new and exciting ways.  He also commented on the construction process.  "DJ Construction guided our congregation through this project from conception to design to construction over a period of several years.  The actual construction of our project began during very difficult weather conditions, and DJ made the necessary adjustments and took advantage of every break in the weather to keep the project moving."

Bremen First United Church of Christ is located at 323 S. Center Street in Bremen.  The church holds Sunday morning worship at 9:30 a.m.
